Who says art can't taste good, too?

So, I recently got a job in a coffee shop and have discovered the different "fun" things you can do to coffee. Not so much coffee, but, lattes; latte art.

Hearts, stars, and goldfish! You name it, you can make it. It's pretty awesome! And while I'm at it, I'll just advertise for our shop. It's really great coffee and freshly made scones and muffins everyday. Check out City Dock Coffee! Cheers!

Art or pornography?

I was searching around cnn.com while I baked a delicious chocolate cake and came acrossed an interesting video about a photographer shooting nude photos in an art museum. His subject (KC Neill) was then arrested and charged with public nudity and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Lesson learned: Keep your clothes on.

I finally got around to scanning my plier abstractions.. yippee. They came out okay.. although some of the images you cannot tell what it is. (It could be a lamp, a fork, a marker, or pliers.. who knows. Heck, for all I know it's a pile of mashed potatoes.) I'd really appreciate someones feedback on them and also to see some others! Has anybody looked ahead at Part B, using Illustrator? I'm totally confused by it, but, I guess I'll figure it out as I did the other things. I've included some images of them... enjoy. :]

Pliers.

Top of the evening to ya! So, for my class we have to draw a man-made mechanical object. Guess what I chose? Pliers. In some way, we're supposed to continue to draw and simplify chosen object. Well, I have started drawing and found out what a terrible artist I am. I mean, I'm good at drawing patterns and weird doodle things that I made up one day, but not actual things.. not actual things like PLIERS. I have included a picture of my drawing for all to laugh at. 

Introduction!

Well, hello hello! Welcome to my blog! (So cliché..) 

Anyway, let me get to my explanation first. For those of you in my CAT 111 class, you know the purpose of this blog is for art, but, the rest of Blogger.com doesn't. Therefore, I shall introduce myself for my very first post and from here on out it shall be of art!

My name is Rachel and I enjoy long walks on the beach.. just kidding.. I was born and raised in upstate New York. I graduated from high school this past June (2009). I was supposed to attend a college there but things went bananas with my student loans so I decided to move in with my boyfriend and attend AACC. Whatdja look at that! Here I am! I'm majoring in Communication Arts Technology and I'm super excited about it. I'm working on getting a job part time (Yay!.. not), but, I need a cah (car) and that's what a job's for!

Through high school, I played field hockey, soccer, volleyball, and softball. My favorite happens to be volleyball and softball. I'm hoping to try out for AACC in the spring! 

Let's see.. my favorite color is green and I really don't like baked beans. Anyway.. back on track.

I said I was living with my boyfriend. We met online.. playing video games.. yes, we're nerds. We get along great and he's really something special. I truly love him. His name is Chris and he goes to UMBC for Computer Science. We've been together for 8 months. ♥
